Services
 Liberty Senior
Activity Center provides Congregate Meals, Home-Delivered Meals,
and Transportation services which are open to seniors who
are 60+ years of age and their spouses regardless of income. All of these
services combine to help meet our goal of helping the elderly remain
independent and active in their homes for as long as possible.
Congregate Meals:
We serve congregate or on-site meals, at (2) sites that are
open (5) days a week. In addition to the Liberty site, we also provide
meals to a satellite site at the Daisetta Community Center. This service
provides not only a hot nutritious meal to our clients, but it also
affords them the opportunity to visit with people their own age and
reminisce about the past. Many of the seniors also enjoy recreation at the
centers by playing cards, dominoes, Skip-Bo® and other games.
Home-Delivered Meals:
In addition to the congregate meals, we also provide home-delivered
meals to the residents of south Liberty County. We have two meal routes
that deliver hot meals (5) days a week to Liberty, Dayton, Ames, Raywood
and Daisetta. Frozen meals for
 weekends and holidays are also available
for those needing them. In addition to being 60 or older, clients must
meet a minimum score on a Needs Assessment to qualify for the home-delivered meal service. The form considers whether or not they are
homebound and have a condition or conditions that make it difficult to
prepare a meal. As with all our services,
there is no income requirement to be eligible for this program.
Transportation:
The Center also provides transportation services to the elderly of
south Liberty County. We transport seniors to and from the center as well
as to local shopping and local doctors’ visits. Also, we provide trips to
the post office, bank, hair appointments, physical therapy and other personal business
needs. We ask that clients schedule these trips at least (1) day in
advance, however, we understand that last minute trips are sometimes
needed and we work very hard to accommodate them in every instance.
Appointments must be made where we can complete the roundtrip
transportation within our normal operating hours of 8:00 a.m. until
2:00 p.m. Most of the doctors in the area are more than happy
to schedule morning appointments wherever possible.
