Frequently Asked
Questions

Who’s eligible?
All of our services are open seniors who are 60 years of age or older and
their spouses regardless of socio-economic status. Clients requesting
home-delivered meals must meet a minimum score on the in-home assessment
before services can be implemented.
How much do your services cost?
There is no charge to the eligible client for any of our services.
We ask that the seniors donate what they are able but we never turn anyone
away because of his inability to contribute. These contributions, called
program income, help fill the gaps in our funding.
How do I sign up?
To request any of our services, the client or an immediate family member
may call our office at 936.336.7265 and speak with Alma or Lisa. Seniors
requesting home-delivered meals will be given an appointment for a staff
member to conduct an in-home assessment at a mutually convenient time to
determine eligibility. Those requesting congregate meals may simply come
into our Center at 2000 Panther Lane in Liberty before noon, Monday
through Friday if they plan to eat that day. Otherwise, they can fill out
the intake form at anytime during regular business hours.
Do I need to let you know when I’m coming to eat?
At this time, we do not require reservations at the Liberty Site.
We just ask that you are signed in and at your table before 12:00 p.m. so
that we can call the tables in an orderly fashion. Since the meals for the
Daisetta Site are prepared in Liberty and delivered to the
Daisetta Community Center, reservations are necessary to ensure there’s a
meal there for each participant. Please call the day before or shortly
after 10:00 a.m. on the day you wish to eat at the center.
What are your hours of operation?
We are open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Our
closures for holidays and observances generally are: New Year’s Day, Good
Friday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, two days at
Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. For specific closures,
check our calendar.
Isn’t your agency a department of Liberty County?
While we do get some much-needed support from the County of Liberty,
Liberty County Project on Aging is a private, non-profit 501(c)(3)
organization that receives the bulk of its funding from State & Federal
sources as well as private contributions.
Do you accept donations?
We gladly accept financial support from private citizens, businesses,
civic organizations, etc. In fact, without them, we would be unable to
maintain and expand our services. As we are a private, non-profit
501(c)(3) organization, your gift is a tax deductible contribution and may
be sent to:
